DWG Link in Revit

Linking and importing CAD files into Revit are essential features for collaborating with consultants or integrating existing CAD data into your Revit projects. Here’s how to link and import CAD files in Revit:

Linking CAD files in Revit:

Step 1: Open the Revit project.

Step 2: Go to the “Insert” tab in the ribbon menu at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Click the “Link CAD” button. A dialog box will appear.

Step 4: Browse to the location of the CAD file, select it, and click the “Open” button.

Step 5: In the next dialog box, you can select the layers and categories of objects to display in the Revit project.

Step 6: Set the scale and location of the CAD file in the Revit project. You can do this by using the “Place” tool.

Step 7: Adjust the visibility and properties of the CAD file in the Revit project. You can do this by using the “Visibility/Graphics Overrides” tool.

Note: It’s important to keep in mind that when you link or import CAD files into Revit, they become part of the Revit project. Any changes made to the CAD files outside of Revit will not be reflected in the Revit project unless you update the link or re-import the file.
